Jeremiah

Born into a priestly family at Anathoth, Jeremiah was called as a young man around 627 BCE and prophesied for forty years, until Jerusalem fell and he was carried to Egypt. He warned kings, priests, and people, and was rejected by nearly all of them. Yet no prophet spoke more tenderly of a new covenant.
