17th Of Tammuz & The 3 Weeks

On this day the walls of Jerusalem were breached—first by Babylon, and centuries later by Rome—and from that moment the city's fall became certain. The fast of the Seventeenth of Tammuz opens the Three Weeks, a period of mourning that leads directly to Tisha B'Av and the destruction of the temple.
